YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Overview
The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh has been addressing the needs of the community for over 160 years, reaching nearly 100,000 people annually throughout Allegheny County and the surrounding areas.
As the region has grown so has the Y’s programming to address the needs of the community. Once identified for servicing the region’s influx of immigrants, today the Y is known by some 85% of Americans.
The international organization places an emphasis on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. By providing programming dedicated to rectifying the achievement gap amongst economically disadvantage students, eliminating health disparities, and helping to bring food secure to families in need, the Y has remained a leading resource center for many communities.
