Ryan Clark Cure League Overview

Currently, millions of people worldwide suffer from sickle cell disease, a common genetic blood disorder, characterized by an abnormality in the red blood cells. Yet there is still a critical need for medical research.

The Ryan Clark Cure League, conceived by Pittsburgh’s retired safety and leading tackler, raises money for sickle cell disease research, clinical care, and increased awareness about this painful, life-threatening disease.

Dedicated researchers and medical professionals at the University of Pittsburgh’s Vascular Medicine Institute and UPMC joined together with the Cure League with common goals; defeating sickle cell disease, expanding patient access to care, and increasing awareness.
