YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh Outreach
The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is dedicated to improving the quality of life for its community members through youth development programs, healthy living initiatives and encouraging a sense of social responsibility within the region.
Many individuals associate the YMCA with its recreational and exercise programming; however the Y is much more than gym. With a diverse roster of programming the Y offers community oriented services that address critical needs such as:
- Closing the Achievement Gap
- Combating Health Disparities
- Addressing Food Insecurity and proving help for Financially Struggling Families.
With initiatives such as Hope for All, members of the community are provided an opportunity to gain economic independence, and education. In partnership with the YWCA and with the support of the United Way, Hope for All provides families in need with access to free tax and FAFSA preparation. The referral services are available using PA 211 number and onsite at Y locations in McKeesport, Penn Hills, Wilmerding, Homewood, and Hazelwood.
