Rick Lane, a teacher, thinks Pittsburgh is a “phenomenal” place to raise a family.

In fact, he and his wife are raising a family of six kids in the city, not far from the neighborhood where Rick grew up.

Six is a big number — especially down the road, when the time comes for college tuition.

But thanks to the Pittsburgh Promise, a scholarship program for kids in the Pittsburgh Public Schools supported by a $100 million matching grant from UPMC, Rick and his family can plan on staying right here in the city they love.
